It’s huge, secluded and hard to get to, not a touristy place. People who cares for them have been doing it for a long time, out of love and compassion. They take the abused, used for tourism, shows, old elephants that the mahout have no use for any more. There are really loving people.

You are ignoring the need of an elephant, particularly a female elephant, to have the company of other elephants. And a zoo is never a good place for any animal.

The money for Mali’s safe transfer to a sanctuary in Thailand is already in place. And who gives a good damn if her name is spelled with one L or two, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that this poor girl is lonely and suffering and should be with other elephants. 37 years should be enough for her to give to the people. Now it should be her turn for a few years of peace and happiness!! Have a heart why don’t you?? Set her free now!!

Thoroughly read Mr/Ms Padero’s thoughtful treatise as a counter-argument to PETA’s presentation. Have the improvements been made to the Manila Zoo? More importantly, have qualified veterinarians thoroughly examined her? We would oppose bringing any additional elephants to the Zoo without the facility being properly accredited.
