Long-range sensors detected alternating tachyon pulses near the Starbase Sikatuna Shipyard. These are known to be the signature of a transwarp aperture being accessed. Further scans revealed that a Borg Tactical Cube was emerging from the aperture!

All ships capable of combat were immediately dispatched to meet the threat. An emergency message was also sent out on all frequencies, requesting any ships within the sector to assist in making a stand.

When the Cube emerged from the aperture, a total of six ships were assembled to meet it in battle: A Federation Intrepid, Galaxy, and Defiant Class, a Klingon Negh’var Class, a passing Vulcan D’Kyr Class, and even a Species 8472 Bioship that happened to find itself in the sector after executing a Quantum Singularity.

“The board is set. The pieces are moving…”

Simplified Star Trek: Attack Wing (STAW) Rules

My 5 and 4 year-old Starfleet Cadets each took command of a pair of ships of their choice. We battled the Borg using ship and movement cards + ship action bar tokens only. The Borg had a Battle Stations token to use each turn, firing on the closest ship in range. Borg movement was determined with the Echo and Actual tokens from the Destroy the Scimitar mission + a D4 roll for distance.

With a combined fleet of (only?) six ships to resist the Borg Tactical Cube, what outcome would unfold?

First shot fired: The Borg rolled 3 hits + 1 battlestations vs. my Negh’var with 1 evade + 4 battlestations. Phew! Safe.

My Negh’var and Defiant move in close to draw fire away from the other ships and attempt to block the Cube so it will be unable to call battlestations if it collides.

The Borg move away and closer to the Intrepid Class and fires! Attack roll results in 6 hits. The Intrepid rolls just 3 evades and takes damage to shields.

Voyager and the D’Kyr fire at the Borg!

The fleet maneuvers to converge on the Cube, which then collides with the Defiant and loses its battlestations action.
