The cast, apart from Colin Firth (probably best known for his role in the Bridget Jones movies), SIR Ben Kingsley (Gandhi!), Aishwarya Rai (Vavavoom Bollywood diva, voted as “the most beautiful woman in the world” this year, Miss India & Miss World 1994), and Thomas Sangster (“Love Actually” and “Nanny McPhee”); is comprised of notable talents in recent popular films and TV series such as Rome, Kingdom of Heaven, The Mummy / The Mummy Returns, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Syriana, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9), Master and Commander, Troy, and The Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe).

The plot seemed okay to me. The cast was impressive. The trailer was interesting. It seemed like a very promising movie – or so I thought.

It was off to a good start, but quickly lost momentum and did a nose dive to a lousy, confused finish. Colin Firth is terribly miscast as an action hero and the script writer(s) should be executed. It was painfully obvious that the film’s budget went mostly to actors’ talent fees. I just had to put this together to get rid of the mental diarrhea and/or brain tumor I ended up with after watching the film.

I have too much respect for Kingsley and Firth to believe they did this for anything other than the money, and to their credit, they give their best efforts.

Review: ‘Bourne’ a thrill-a-minute powerhouse [ CNN.com ]

I agree with Jon Stewart on director Paul Greengrass,

“Will someone please give this guy a steady-cam?!”

Matt Damon / Jason Bourne had me holding my breath every step of the way. The Bourne Ultimatum is a 111-minute adrenaline rush.

With most series, the third is the charm that wraps everything up. Not with Bourne. The Ultimatum may be the last Bourne book credited to and published in author Robert Ludlum‘s lifetime († March 2001), but faithful to Ludlum’s style of writing, Eric Van Lustbader continues the saga with two additional books on Jason Bourne.

After watching Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which was great, as expected) at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall last night, Hilson mucked about on the display for The Simpsons Movie:

Seeing as there was hardly anyone around since it was closing time, I joined him in his artard moment:

You read that right. There is actually a movie called Transmorphers! It was released in time to ride the global wave of Michael Bay’s Transformers. I found out about it from Kit, who discovered bootleg DVDs being peddled on the streets of Metro Manila. With a little Google magic, here’s more info on what is apparently the latest installment in a long chain of low-budget and shameless rip-offs by director Leigh Scott and the production company known as The Asylum.

Yep, there’s actually a movie called Transmorphers, and it slides into “select” video stores just in time for the theatrical release of Transformers. Some call it copy-catting at its most shameless, some opt to call it fortuitous timing … and most people will never even hear of Transmorphers, aside from the hardcore movie geeks and the curious 14-year-olds of the world. Produced by the outfit that gave you The Da Vinci Treasure, Pirates of Treasure Island and Snakes on a Train, Leigh Scott’s low-low-budget Transmorphers is (of course) unquestionably, obviously and in all ways blatantly BAD … but here’s the key question: Is it any fun? The crude robot animations remind me of the equally evil robot villains in Captain Power. Remember those? Now that was pretty impressive for the 80′s. If anything, it seems that Transmorphers is crap at its finest, but does not pretend not to be. Maybe that’s why I might enjoy watching it more than I did Transformers.
