In no particular order, each with its own importance, here are three plugins that I believe no website or blog running on WordPress should be without:
- Akismet | By Automattic | Trashes SPAM comments. You need an Akismet API key for it to work.

“Out-of-the-box SEO for your WordPress blog.” - Jetpack by WordPress.com | By Automattic | A whole bunch of very useful thingamajigs. You need to connect it to your WordPress.com account.
“Bring the power of the WordPress.com cloud to your self-hosted WordPress. Jetpack enables you to connect your blog to a WordPress.com account to use the powerful features normally only available to WordPress.com users.”
